A green Hyundai Kona

I’d want the 1.6 Turbo with AWD. I think it would be a really nice daily here in Michigan and am smitten with the quirky looks and the green color.

No manual?

I guess that’s the difference between the U.S. and Europe, while Australia has different reasons for imported vehicles.

Granted the 1.6 manual doesn’t seem as common and has the least power of any of the manual/auto, petrol/diesel options.

It’ll be like we spoke about Skoda a while back on engine options and model variants (we get the Kona in five v ariants, S, SE, Premium, Premium SE and Premium GT).

You get the two most powerful engines though.

With the ele ctrification of cars the manual gearbox will be dying out soon as it is.

But Hyundai Australia *does* get the i30 N with the panorama roof which is the car I sorely want to buy in America but we're stuck with the Veloster N with no optional sunroof whatsoever.

CH-R has no manual option either, it is all CVT and FWD, not even an AWD option.

I wish I could combine the 1.6T/AWD drivetrain with the base trim level (smaller wheels, almost no chrome trim, plain black cladding). That would check a lot of boxes for my next primary vehicle.

Yep, it’s me. The 1.6t/DCT combo is pretty sprightly, and although it doesn’t have as good steering feel as the CX3, it obliterates it in actual road holding and suspension refinement. Rumors abound of a Kona N in the works, s adly they all seem to indicate that it will be FWD only. The AWD system is quite good in my estimation. It’s an electrohydraulic clutchpack, and the control logic is very willing to send torque to the rear. Its got one of those power-split displays in the menus, and you can see that from a stop it pre-loads the clutch pack and then depending on how hard you are accelerating it either immediate disengages or immediately vectors the full available 50% to the rear. It also is likes to vector torque to t he rear under cornering, leading to a near complete lack of understeer and  a surprising willingness to hang the ass out. I'm guessing the clutchpack and rear diff aren't up to handling the power from the 2.0t though. :P

My friend test drove the Kona and said it was the saddest car he has ever sat in. I haven’t been able to check on that yet. He ended up buying an orange Crosstrek

My standards are pretty low I’ve had an Expedition a Crown Vic, a Corolla and a Camry in that order. I’m sure it would be fine for me.

It isn’t that bad. PLus he loves it. It is Orange, gets good MPG, and fits all the camping gear.
